After World War II, the Jews became worried about their safety. They wanted their own nation where they could live amongst themselves. They decided to move to Palestine which was currently occupied by Arabs. This led to a dispute. The Americans suggested that they divide it in half; creating Israel.
The U.S. in the Iran-Iraq War
When the Iran-Iraq War first began, no one supplied either countries with anything. Once the Soviet Union began getting closer to Iraq friendship-wise, the U.S gave $400 million to help out Iraq. They put themselves in a position that they didn't need to be in the first place. In the end, more Iranians and Iraqis died, while the U.S was worried about the Soviet Union.
Nuclear Weapons in Iran
In 1990, Iran began to work to make their own nuclear weapons. Soon the US sent troops in to stop this. And some are still there.
